Flagship 01 / Medicine and health information

Interactive
medical education.

A practical education package, professional summaries and public-facing apps form an evolving product family.

Our medical prototype develops an education programme delivered through apps and a web service for students and early-career doctors. The same knowledge base supports separate content and service pathways for professionals and the public.

The core of the project

A shared knowledge base.
Different learning needs.

The planned education system primarily serves students in the final years of medical school, especially years five and six, and doctors at the beginning of their careers.

The package is designed for active, practical learning: students work through clinical cases, practise decisions, receive feedback and revisit illustrative background material when needed. The learning environment is planned for apps and a web service. Separate summaries address the practical needs of other healthcare professionals, alongside plain-language overviews for the public.

This allows the depth, language and presentation of knowledge to be adapted to its purpose. That is a central development task of the prototype.

Planned user pathways

Education, summaries
and plain-language information.

01 / Students and early-career doctors

An applied education package

Cases, decision-making exercises and reasoned feedback form a learning pathway within the planned apps. Learners practise connecting knowledge with clinical situations. Education package structure ↗

02 / Other healthcare professionals

Executive summary

A clear professional summary concludes each topic. It is adapted to the work and learning needs of nurses and other healthcare professionals.

03 / The public

Health information in your pocket

Plain-language information is delivered through separate mobile apps. Further development of the Omalääkäri and Omasairaanhoitaja concepts includes a planned interactive pathway from information to professional advice. Apps and access to services ↗

From information to professional support

From learning
to access to services.

The aim is to connect interactive public health information with professional support in one service pathway. Users could first explore a topic, clarify their information needs and connect through the app with a doctor or nurse.

The Omalääkäri and Omasairaanhoitaja concepts are potential service pathways for further development. The prototype helps us design the user journey, presentation of information and professional role; the remote-service connection is at the planning stage.

Project development and consulting

From a concept
to phased delivery.

In this project, Akamedia combines scientific content, learning design and a digital service concept. Development focuses on content structure, user journeys, clear explanations and assessment of learning.

The approach developed in the project could later be applied to new medical topics, language versions and other disciplines. Content and quality assurance for each field are planned with its experts.

User groups and business model

The product family evolves
with users' needs.

Education packages, professional summaries and public-facing apps serve different purposes. Planned revenue sources include educational content subscriptions, organisational licences, sales of individual content packages and potential advice and remote services.

The offering will develop in stages based on user feedback, demand and available resources. The importance of different user groups and revenue sources may change over time.
